WILLIAM H. SKINNER
Vernon Center, Feb. 5 – The funeral of William H. Skinner was held from his late residence Thursday afternoon. The services were conducted by Rev. D. I. Biggar, pastor of the Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Skinner was born in this place 84 years ago and had spent his entire life here. His father, Levi Skinner, and his uncle, Gideon Skinner, were the first settlers in Vernon Center. He accumulated a handsome fortune, and contributed largely to educational purposes, being the founder of Skinner Hall at Hamilton College. For many years, Mr. Skinner was one of the directors of the Vernon National Back and for several years its vice president. One son, Charles A., with whom he lived and four grandsons, Arthur, Clarence , Harry and Hawley, are left to mourn his loss, the wife and one son having died some years ago. The interment was made in Skinner Cemetery, near his late residence.
