Lanice "Slick" Deryl Poston, 64, of Florence, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning, April 23, 2014 at his home.

Mr. Poston was born in Florence County, a son of the late Henry Luther Poston and Arlington Virginia Prosser Poston. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church and active in the television ministry and served as a greeter. Mr. Poston was an avid hunter and fisherman. He retired from Florence County Public Works and most recently worked as a heavy equipment operator for Godwin Drainage Company. Mr. Poston was a veteran of the US Army, having served in Vietnam.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother, Robert L. Poston, and a sister, Janie Mae Folk.

Surviving are his wife of thirty-three years, Marsha Anne Player Poston; his five brothers, Billy L. Poston, Harry (Viola) Poston and Kenny (Ellen) Poston, all of Pamplico, Bobby (Aloma) Poston of Andrews, and Larry (Jean) Poston of Kingstree; three sisters, Virginia Ann (Richard) Chan of Fairfield, CA, Linda (Randall) Calcutt of Johnsonville and Elaine (Tommy) Gardner of Pamplico; and a number of nieces and nephews, who he was their Uncle Deryl.
