Wally was highly energetic, loved being outdoors, licking faces, and running around. He was adopted from the Riley County Humane Society in August of 2006, when Kenan decided he wanted a dog. We all grew to love him, each of our relationships with him was unique. We liked to joke that he had ADHD, and that he "walked" us!
He was named Walnut for the walnuts he liked to chew, Osage for the many osage orange trees surrounding his house and under which he enjoyed sleeping in the shade.
He passed away suddenly, after a day of not eating or jumping and running around, as was his usual habit. He was very weak, and his breathing was rapid and shallow. His "main guy" Kenan and his "dad" Merv were with him then, and together buried him under an apple tree. There was no time to call a vet, and the cause of his death was undetermined. Kenan is going away to college this year, and we often wondered how Wally would feel about that, I wonder if he knew, and if that contributed to his passing.
