He was born in Gaston County on February 10, 1950 to the late Thomas Newman and Joyce Parlier Adair. Tommy was an U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War serving from April 22, 1969 to March 9, 1973 in Okinawa.
Tommy was a lover of music and he enjoyed playing the guitar. He was always happy, putting his family first, and never had anything bad to say. Tommy was a big UNC Carolina fan.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews
