St. David – Nancy Cape, 87, of St. David died at 5:50 p.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at her home.
She was born April 30, 1926 in Mapleton, to Clinton and Mary (Haynes) Umholtz. She married Roscoe R. Cape on October 27, 1946. He preceded her in death on November 7, 1985.
She is survived by her two sons, Gary E. Cape of West Liberty, OH and Richard D. Cape of St. David; one brother, John Umholtz of Pekin; three sisters, Anna (Danny) David of Reed City, Jessie Isabell of Hanna City, and Mary Mallory of Edelstein; one grandson, Ryan (Jodi) Cape of McHenry; two great-granddaughters, Charlee and Brynn; and her former daughter-in-law, Sheila Cape.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Jim, Chuck, Bill, and Tom.
Nancy was a resident of St. David since 1947. She was a homemaker and stay at home mom. In later years, she worked at the Canton Nursing Center. She was active all her life with the Nazarene Church of St. David.
Her greatest enjoyment came from reading and studying her bible and raising and caring for her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial will be at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Buckheart Fire Department or to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
