Services for John M. Erickson, 79, retired executive assistant to the president of the Illinois Synod of the Lutheran Church in America, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Grace Lutheran Church, Kensington and Ogden Avenues, La Grange. Mr. Erickson, of La Grange Park, died Monday in Community Memorial General Hospital, La Grange. Mr. Erickson, a former corporation executive, served under four presidents of the Illinois Synod of the Lutheran Church. Before going to work for the church, he was treasurer of Celotex Corp. in Chicago and secretary-treasurer of South Shore Oil & Development Co., New Orleans. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; 2 sons, J. Lowell and Douglas; a daughter, Marcia Meidling; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters.
