Beattyville Enterprise, Thursday, July 7, 1960

Aaron Floyd Hobbs, 66, died unexpectedly at his home near Beattyville, Saturday morning of a heart attack. He was a retired merchant, salesman, and popular citizen of this county. He was a member of the First Church of God.

Mr. Hobbs was widely known throughout Eastern and Central Kentucky and was always a welcome visitor in all the homes in which he came. A man of sterling integrity, he was one who numbered his friends by his acquaintances. He will be a loss to the community, as well as his family and friends.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Etta Hobbs, Beattyville; four daughters, Mrs. Ershla Manning, Cynthiana; Mrs. Mary Saba, Trenton, Ohio; Miss Uyvonna Hobbs, Beattyville, and Mrs. Annette Arnold, El Paso, Texas; four sons, Wendell Hobbs, Beattyville; Foster Hobbs, Winchester; Bobby Hobbs, Middletown, Ohio; and Billy Hobbs, Covington; a stepson, James P. Bush, Franklin, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Amanda Back, Beattyville, and Mrs. Florence Shackelford, Fincastle; a brother, Francis Hobbs, Middletown, Ohio; and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. in the First Church of God by the Rev. Walter Strong and the Rev. W. W. Brewer. Burial was in the Riverview Cemetery.

Casketbearers were Arco Begley, Charlie Hobbs, Ed Brandenburg, Larry Strange, Fred Taylor, Kelly Hampton, Joe Hobbs, and Harold Kincaid. Honorary Pallbearers were Russell Reynolds, Wallace Brandenburg, C. L. Becker, Wilgus Cole, Sterling Upchurch, Johnny Hieronymus, John Flynn, Earl McKinney and Arthur Kincaid.

The Newnam Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
