Born May 21, 1915, near Dallas City, Ill., he was the son of Fredrick and Katherine Hupfer Ochsner. On June 16, 1940, he married Vella Rexroat in Wayland, Mo. She died March 20, 1991.
Mr. Ochsner farmed for 25 years near Dallas City. He became a Methodist minister in 1962. He served as supply minister at the Pontoosuc Presbyterian Church for several years and served charges at Reynolds, Maquon, Orange Chapel, and Douglas, Ill. He retired and moved to Stronghurst in 1980.
He was a 1933 graduate of Dallas City High School and attended Carthage College. He graduated from the Garrett Biblical Institute of Elvaston, Ill.
He was a member of the Stronghurst United Methodist Church. He was an avid gardener and the published author of two books, "Heart of the Quarterback Hills" and "Silver Dollar Reveille," and more than 200 short stories.
Survivors include one daughter, Juanita Jarvis of Stronghurst; one son, Robert Ochsner of Reynolds, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m.
The funeral for Mr. Ochsner will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Stronghurst United Methodist Church with the Rev. George Knox officiating. Burial will be in the Stronghurst Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for the Stronghurst United Methodist Church and staff of the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab Center.
