Captain Edward Sargent is the son of Lieutenant John Sergent/Sargent (not the son of John Sargent and Deborah Hillier of Malden and Barnstable Co.).
John is listed in Saco and Biddeford as father of Edward, Mary, Benjamin, Patience, & listed other sources as also Joseph.
John was married at least 2 times, and there is a Thomas & a Stephen, from a previous marriage.
John died in 1703 while looking for stray cows after another Indian attack @ Blackpoint.
His sons Benjamin & Joseph were also killed with him as they died also.
Edward moved away to Newbury with Elizabeth where she died & then he (Captain Edward) remarried Sarah Pierce-Bradstreet.
The John from Barnstable of the William Sargent line that married Deborah Hillier, died a lot later (in Middlesex Co., Mass.) than Lieutenant John in Maine.
Edward was born in Saco and his father was Lieutenant John Sergent/Sargent, who was son of Master Fisherman Stephen Sargent who drown off a fishing platform in 1649.
Stephen left a will naming John and his land. The son of John Sargent, he married (1) Elizabeth Plaisted and (2) Sarah (Pierce) Bradstreet, widow of Humphrey Bradstreet.
