Death of MRS. NANCY ALLGEYER
The sudden death of Mrs. J. S. Allgeyer at her home four miles west of Winterset on last Wednesday night was a profound shock to the people of this community. While her immediate family had known of a heart failure she had for some years, her appearance indicated good health and the announcement of her death was wholly unexpected. It was about one o'clock on the morning of the 11th when her husband noticed that she had what he supposed was an attack of nightmare. Failing to arouse her he lighted a lamp and found her unconscious, she had passed away a few minutes later.
Mrs. Allgeyer was a daughter of the late Wm. I. Gordon, one of the pioneer families of the county. She left no children but adopted and gave her loving care and attention to three of her brother's children.cemetery.

Mrs. J. S. Allgeyer
Nancy May Gordon, daughter of William I. and Sarah A. Gordon, was born near the city of Winterset, Madison county, Iowa, May 1, 1868, and departed this life September 11, 1919, aged 51 years, 6 months and 10 days.
She was united in marriage with J. S. Allgeyer January 28, 1895.
She has left to mourn her loss, her husband and three adopted children, two daughters, Anna, now Mrs. Orville Howell, Marie at home, and one son, Tom at home. Besides these her three sisters, Mrs. C. H, Brown of Greenfield, Mrs. Robert Augustine, of Orient; Mrs. T. L. Wheadon, of Kearney, Nebraska; and one brother, Irwin W. Gordon, who has just returned from France where he was in the service of the United States. Her brother now makes his home with his oldest sister, Mrs. Charles Brown of Greenfield.
Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. C. J. Zumsteg. Hymns were sung by Rev. C. E. Hawthorne and his wife. Interment was made in the Winterset cemetery.
The community has lost a kind friend and a good neighbor. They one and all extend their deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.
