Marie Acree Williams was born September 1, 1925 in Andalusia, AL to William and Maggie Acree. She passed away in Houston On Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the age of 88. She was preceded in death by her husband Ed Williams; the father of her children Bob Blackwell and her son Jack Blackwell. She is survived by her son, Shannon Blackwell and his wife Theresa; grandson Jordon Blackwell and his wife Holly; great grandsons Tristen and Jackson Blackwell; a brother Charles M. Acree and his wife Jan; a sister Maxine Acree Campbell and a step-son David Williams. Marie worked hard and expected to succeed. At first she worked two jobs for very little money. Then, competing in a Man's World, she succeeded and she still worked hard. She won. We all loved her and marveled at her success. She also won at tennis and set records in "track and field". We're so proud of her life and miss the way she brightened a room. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at Grand View Funeral Home on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made on her behalf to Alliance for Aging Research, 1700 K Street NW, ste.740, Washington D.C. 20006. Well wishes to Marie and her family may be shared at www.grandviewfunerals.com
