Joe Simon Sandoval, 65, passed away Sept. 27, 1997. Born Feb. 23, 1932, in Walsenburg, Colo. Preceded in death by his father, Joe G. Sandoval-and sister, Esperanza "Hope" Blackwell- and nephews, John and Shorty Garbiso. Survived by son, Stan (Janet) Sandoval and his children, Stanley Jr. and Tyron- son, Michael (Sondra) and his children, Michael Jr. and Britney- and daughter, Michelle (Kevin) Hart and her children, Lyndsey, Brandon, Ryan, Sarah and Travis- mother, Della Sandoval- and sisters, Margaret Galvan, Ersie (Phillip) Garbiso and Jeanette Phillis- and special friend, Emma Montoya. Joe served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He also worked for CF&I for 32 years in the 11-Inch Mill, retiring in 1982. Joe was a member of St. Charles Senior Citizen Group and Eagles No. 145. Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday and funeral Mass, 10 a.m. Wednesday. Both services will be held at St. Francis Xavier Church. Interment, Imperial Memorial Gardens with military honors by Pueblo Veterans Ritual Team.
