Doratha Helen Smith was born on October 3, 1922 in Alabama to William Collins and Goldie McCracken. She was raised in Waycross, Ware County, Georgia. She was the oldest of 5 siblings. Dorotha joined the US Marine Corps, enlisting on Jan 21, 1943 and serving until August 16, 1946 during World War II. Dorotha moved to California in 1942, she was married and had one son, Daniel Smith. Dorotha Smith died on April 22, 1973 in Lancaster, California and was buried at the Lancaster Cemetery. From today forward, Dorotha will always be remembered for her life and service to our country.
