He served in the U.S. Army for 3 years and upon discharge from the service he began working for the Telephone Company, retiring after 38 years of service in WaKeeney and Dighton, KS.
On September 5, 1954 he married Shirley A. Roth from Bazine, KS, living most of their married life in Dighton, KS. They had two children, Michael W. Baker and Michelle M. (Baker) Johnson. They have two grandchildren, Sara (Johnson) O'Brien and Brandon Baker and one great granddaughter, Rebecca.
In his younger days Bob loved riding his motorcycles and enjoyed playing pool, as well as spending time with his family and friends. Bob lived the last four years of his life at Wesley Towers in Hutchinson, Kansas where he enjoyed life and livening up the staff's life on a daily basis.
Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle and his wife, Shirley. He is survived by his son in Oklahoma, grandchildren in Wichita, KS a sister, Kathryn Buser of Wichita, KS, two sisters-in-law, Marge Baker of McAllen, TX, Marian Baker of Pratt, KS and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
