Press, 4 September 1907
The many friends of Mr Roderick McTavish, formerly of Christchurch, will learn with regret of his death, which occurred at Masterton on Saturday. He had been in failing health for some time, and a few days previously had undergone a serious operation. Mr McTavish was a native of Cromartyshire, and came to New Zealand a comparatively young man. He was for many years in the employ of Messrs Black, Beattie and Co., of this city, and on leaving that firm took up his residence at Eltham, in the Taranaki district.
The deceased was for many years Pipe-Major of the local Caledonian Socicty, of which body he was an enthusiastic member. His genial manner and cheerful disposition gained for him hosts of friends.
The late Mr McTavish leaves a widow and five young children

Taranaki Herald, 6 September 1907
