|Birth: ||1825, Ireland|
|Death: ||unknown, USA|
Michael Norton (c1825-?) was a laborer. (b. circa 1825, County Galway, Ireland - d. unknown, County Galway, Ireland)
He was born around 1825. It is assumed that he was from County Galway, Ireland but he may have been from neighboring County Roscommon, Ireland.
He married Bridget Mulligan around 1845.
Three of his children that emigrated to the United States are known: Patrick J. Norton (1856-1905) who married Sarah Jane Carr (1863-1950) and died of septicemia; Matthew Norton (c1860-?) who is only known through witnessing Pat's marriage and being the godfather to Thomas Patrick Norton I; and John Norton (1861-1905) who never married, and died of tuberculosis.
1901 and 1910 census of Ireland:
If he was alive, and born in 1825, he would have been 76 in the 1901 census and 86 in the 1910 census.
There is a Michael Norton who died in Jan-Feb-Mar 1902 in Roscommon. There is a Bridget Norton who died in 1865 in Roscommon. That would have her dying three years after her last know child. This may be our couple. Ordering their death certificates may not give enough information to confirm it. Their marriage certificate would provide more useful information.
Michael Norton was the second great-grandfather of Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ).
