Dorothy lived to work, as she held positions as administrative assistant to a Navy captain in the Pentagon during WWII, reporting and accounting assistant for the Corps of Engineers, church secretary, and finally a homemaker and care giver to her predeceased husband, Gordon, for over 6 years.
Dorothy and Gordon were happily married for 58 years. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 6, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Great Bridge Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be held in Highlands Cemetery in Danville, VA.
The funeral services have been entrusted to Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the college scholarship fund of the Berkley Chapter #52 of the Eastern Star, 5571 Woodbine Rd., Norfolk, VA 23502.
