Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 3, 2005 at the First Baptist Church. Reverend H. B. Terry will officiate assisted by Reverend Truman Johnson. Interment will be in the Ross Cemetery, Directed by Parker Funeral Home. There will be a visitation from 1:00 p.m. Saturday until 2:00 p.m. at the church.
Mrs. Abernathy was born on September 22, 1912 in Wall, Texas to Stephen Felix Sprouse and Mary Elizabeth Mays Abernathy. She had lived most of her life in Callahan County. She was a PBX operator at Abilene Regional Medical Center until she retired at the age of 82. She also worked for Bearden Telephone Company and Clyde Telephone Company. She married Clinton Benjamin Abernathy in Baird, Texas on December 25, 1936.
She is survived by: four daughters, Elizabeth Ann Loven of Oplin, Texas, Janis Joy Smith of Verdi, Nevada, Linda Lou Vena Neff of Baird, Texas and Donna Jeanette Winters of Tuscola, Texas; one son, Clinton Leon Abernathy of Tuscola, Texas; one brother, Pete Sprouse of Monahans, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
