G. Walter Scott, 95, of Warren, IN, died Sunday, July 3, 2011, at 2:30 p.m. at Heritage Pointe in Warren, where he had resided since 1991.

Mr. Scott was a 1932 graduate of Jefferson Township High School and attended DePauw University. He received his master's degree from Columbia University in 1941. He was an English teacher and college administrator throughout his lifetime. He returned to teach at Jefferson Township High School from 1937 to 1940 then taught at North Side High School in Fort Wayne from 1940 to 1943. He worked in public relations and admissions at Kalamazoo, MI, and Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM. After retirement, he worked for IDS Financial Services and Trailer Life Publishing Company.

Mr. Scott was a member of the United Methodist Church, Lions Club International and the BPO Elks Lodge. He also was a Mason and a Shriner.

He was born April 25, 1916, in Jefferson Township, Huntington County, to Cecil C. and Carrie Eads Scott. His first marriage was to Eloise Hamilton on June 30, 1940, in Huntington, and she preceded him in death on March 23, 1975. He married Lorene Gilbreath Spence on Feb. 7, 1988, in Tucson, AZ, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 26, 2009.

Survivors include two daughters, Sheila (Ronald) Harris and Heather (James) Zalewski, both of Albuquerque, NM, three stepdaughters, Delores (Peter) Hippensteel, of Angola; Martha Harp, of Fort Wayne; and Rosemary (Steven) Hartman, of Corunna; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
