George Tardiff, Sr
George Tardiff, Sr., 76, a lifelong resident of Chippewa County. died at his home, Thursday, July 6, 1944, at 3 p.m.
Mr. Tardiff was born in Sault Ste. Marie in 1868, and resided during his entire lifetime in this county. For a time he farmed the family homestead on Riverside Drive, but lately had been employed by the State Highway Department.
Mr. Tardiff was married to Elizabeth Hinds who preceded him in death in 1918. To that union were born the following children: Mrs. Mary Doll, Mrs. Margaret Graham, George L. Tardiff and Peter Tardiff of the Sault: Mrs. Phillis Heynen of New Orleans, Mrs. Monica Lynch of South Portland , Maine, and Lawton Tardiff of Detroit.
Later Mr. Tardiff was married to Mrs. Marie Dellaire who survives together with the following step-children: Ernest and Henry, overseas, and Cecila, Mary and Lena of Flint. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and two sisters: Mrs. Joseph Ford of Houghton and Mrs. Carrie Eckhardt of Petosky.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in the Sault and the Holy Name Society. Funeral services will be held Monday morning.
