Heumphreus, Robert Glen - Robert Glen Heumphreus was the son of Harold K. and Mabel Cain Heumphreus, and was born April 14, 1920 in College Springs. He died Dec. 12,1995 at Clarinda Municipal Hospital.
Heumphreus was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Harold and Raymond.
Heumphreus is survived by his wife, Lois; brothers, Donald and Ferrell; sister, Mabel; nephews, nieces and friends.
He was a Master Sergeant in the 34th Division, 169th Infantry in World War II, with all four of his brothers. He served six and 1/2 years, three of them overseas.
He married Lois Marie Parks July 3, 1948 in Clarinda. Heumphreus was a line man for Iowa Power and Light, Clarinda. In 1953, the coupled moved to California where he was a line man for San Diego Gas and Electric for 25 years. After retiring, the couple lived in Wichita, Ks., and St. Louis, Mo., running a public storage business.
While in San Diego, Ca., Heumphreus was in the San Diego Bowling Association. After moving to Bedford, he joined the Country Club and was an avid golfer. He was on the O' Hara's bowling team and was a member of the American Veterans and the American Legion.
Services were Dec. 16 at Novinger-Taylor Funeral Home, Bedford. Interment was in Washington Cemetery, Gravity.
