A native of Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late William Alonzo "Lon" and Heppie Elizabeth O'Kelley Hix. Mrs. Durham worked for Jantzen and was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Nellie G. Durham of Westminster; brother, William C. "Pete" Hix of Oakway; brother-in-law, Gene Ramsey; sister-in-law, Peggy Hix; two grandchildren, Rhonda Durham Sheriff (Kevin W.) and Casey Durham (Lisa); and four great-grandchildren, Emily Sara Durham, Noah Sheriff, Wyatt Sheriff and Zoe Grace Sheriff.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by two sons, Ronnie C. Durham and Ted Alonzo Durham; sisters, Edna Thrift and Annie Sue Ramsey; and brothers, James Henry, Ralph Carmen, Billy Harold and Johnny Edward Hix.
A graveside service will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Beaverdam Baptist Church Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation, but Mrs. Durham will lie in state Monday, August 5, 2013 at Sandifer Funeral Home from Noon – 5 PM.
