John Schafenocker died at his home on West Main Street at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon from a complication of diseases. He was born March 9, 1844 at Springfield. He was married to Rachel Rhodes on July 4, 1868 in Greenford. She was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Stahl) Rhodes.
He is survived by one son, Harry, and one daughter, Mrs. Ralph Brain (Mary Frances "Minnie"); also 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was a Civil War veteran and a member of the I.O.O.F. order. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Reed of the Methodist church. Interment in Oakland cemetery.
