Vickers Wellington X9706 aircraft of 27 Operational Training Unit (RAF Lichfield) crashed on its approach at Kings Bromley; all seven of the aircrew lost their lives.

RAAF Sergeant Evan Frederick WEBB ,
RAF Sergeant Malcolm Hunter WELCH and
RAFVR Sergeant Wilfred Roy BEETON.
An office clerk by trade, he was 24 years old and the son of Clarence William and Alice Mabel Woolnough; husband of Jessie Valma Woolnough of Margate, Tasmania, Australia.
