The daughter of William P. and Anna E. (Hapgood) Alderman.

Jennie moved to West Springfield, MA with her family at 13. She was a teacher in the West Springfield school system at the time of her marriage to Frank Calvin Rising, the son of Calvin and Elizabeth (Banks), at West Springfield on Sept. 12, 1899.

Jennie and Frank resided in West Springfield, where he was employed as a Farm Superintendent. They were the parents of one child, William A., who was born May 29, 1912 and died at North Chatham, MA on Feb. 21, 1989.

Following her husband's death in 1936, Jennie, who resided at 94 Althea St., Springfield, supported herself by supervising the cafeteria at the West Springfield Junior High School. She served on the town’s school committee for at least one term, a member of the First Congregational Church, Eastern Star Lodge 144, West Springfield Gold Age Club and a charter member of Ashleyville Women’s Club.

Jennie was 88 when she died in the Masonic Hospital, Shrewsbury.
