Mrs. Hilda K. (Besecker) Misner, 86, of 7694 Mentzer Gap Road, Waynesboro, died Thursday afternoon, January 3, 2013, of natural causes.

Born February 3, 1926 in Quincy Township, PA, she was the daughter of the late Emanuel C. and Mary L. (Hartman) Besecker. She was a lifelong resident of Quincy Township.

Mrs. Misner graduated from Quincy High School with the class of 1944.

She and her husband of over 65 years, Samuel W. Misner, were married on February 9, 1947 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Fairview Ward in Waynesboro. They moved to their present residence following the marriage.

Mrs. Misner was a secretary at Landis Machine Company, Waynesboro, for a number of years. She later worked at the Franklin County Court House in the Voters Registration Office, Ausherman's Brothers Real Estate office, Waynesboro, and Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg. Prior to retiring in 1987, she returned to work for Landis Machine Company.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Fairview Ward, where she served in various positions within the church, including the Relief Society President for 18 years. She also was a member of the Quincy Home Auxiliary, Friends of the Library, Waynesboro, and the National AARP. She also served on the Board of Directors of Quincy Cemetery for 35 years.

Mrs. Misner enjoyed spending time with her family, knitting, crocheting, canning, cooking, caring for others, and volunteering her time at Quincy Home.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two children, Timothy W. Misner and his wife Mary Louise of South Mountain and Patti S. Misner of Enola, PA; two grandchildren, Joshua Misner and Hannah Misner; one great-granddaughter, Sophia Misner; two sisters, Anna V. Horwath and Janet Fleagle, both of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Nettie Tosten, Mary Jane Sanders, and Mabel Patterson; and six brothers, Harry Besecker, John Besecker, George Besecker, Joseph Besecker, Emanuel Besecker, and Bernard Besecker.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 7, 2013 in Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, 50 S. Broad St., Waynesboro, with Matthew S. Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in Quincy Cemetery.
