Donald A, Jones, 79, died January 19, 2014 in his residence with family by his side. Donald, a native and lifelong resident of Norfolk, was the son of the late Henry and Marie Memple Jones and was preceded in death by his half brother, Robert Lane.
He served his country in the United States Army, with service in the 101st Airborne as well as two tours of duty in Vietnam and retired after 23 years as a Sergeant First Class. He was the recipient of the Philip A. Connelly Award for Excellence in Army food service. He was a graduate of Norfolk Catholic High School, class of 1952. He was also a member of the Fr. Keeley Council of the Knights of Columbus, St. Pius X Men's club and a member and Past Grand Commander of the International Order of the Alhambra Padul Caravan #69.

"Dee Jay" Jones, Jr. and wife Sandra of Norfolk, his sister, Marcia Pierozzi of San Diego, his brothers, Henry J. Jones and wife Peggy and Rufus A. Jones and wife Carole and two grandchildren; Tara Marie Jones of Los Angeles and Stacy Lee Jones of Chesapeake and three step-grandchildren; Mollie Worden, Nick Davis and Lindsay Voshell and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 24, 2014 at 1:00 PM in St. Pius X Catholic Church by the Reverend Father Nixon Negparanon and Deacon Walker King. Entombment will be in Rosewood Memorial Gardens. The Christian Wake Service will be held in the Norfolk chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Thursday evening at 7:00 PM.
