Duncan "Dunc" Bruce Grimm, 68, of Bemidji, much loved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2014 at his home.
Memorial Services will be 1:00 pm Friday, January 24, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Bemidji, MN with Rev. Gay Albers officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at the Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery near Little Falls, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home of Bemidji.
Dunc was born on August 13, 1945 in Providence, Rhode Island while his father served in the U.S. Navy. He grew up in Perham, MN and moved around the state of Minnesota throughout his life finally settling in Bemidji in 2003. He graduated from Moorhead State University with a degree in business. Dunc served a tour of duty overseas in Vietnam with the U.S. Army. He married Janelle Defries on April 20, 1968 in Perham, MN. He dedicated 37 years to public service working for the state of Minnesota until his retirement in 2007.
Dunc was a supportive father and remained very active with his family until his death. He enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, playing online poker, playing cribbage, and making people laugh-sometimes with him and sometimes at him. Dunc lived with a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis for nearly 30 years but never let that get the better of him.
He is survived by his wife Jan; son Mitch; daughter Victoria (Barry); brother Tom; sister Pam, six grandchildren (Coty, Dylan, Kelly, Gideon, Sawyer, and Anja), two great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and much loved family. He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and LaVerne (Zitzow) Grimm.
