Rena Clark Harris died on January 11, 2014. She was born Rena Hoyt Clark, the second daughter of the late Samuel Nash and Carolyn Huffines Clark in Tarboro on October 7, 1940. Rena graduated from Salem Academy and Mount Vernon College where she served as Student Body President. While a student at Mount Vernon in Washington, D.C., she represented North Carolina as its Cherry Blossom Princess.
On October 29, 1960, Rena married Russel Clemons Harris, Junior. After living in various other places, they moved to Tarboro in 1963 where Rena was active in her church, faithfully serving on the altar, flower, and needlepoint guilds as well as serving in her community.
