Charity Bolton Obituaries

Died at the residence of her son, Fenno D. Bolton, Mrs. Charity Bolton, Feb 4 '97. Mrs. Bolton was born in Duchess County , N.Y. April 22, 1812. At the age of 21 she entered upon the Christian life, and ever lived consistently. In her old age she took great comfort and pleasure in reading the word of God. Her life showed forth that gentle Christ-like spirit that wins the respect and love of all. She was married at Griffens, N.Y. To Develia (sic) Bolton, Jan 12, 1834. To this union six children were born, three of whom are still living: Mary Louisa Scott and F.D. Bolton, of Bolton and Loretta Amanda Van Brocklin of LaPorte City, Ia. Her husband died April 2, 1868, at the age of 58. Mrs. Bolton retained her faculties to a remarkable degree up to the time of her death , and passed away very quietly and gently. Her going out into eternity was a verification of that Christian sentiment, "Our people die well". She has lived a useful life, and those who mourn rejoice over her heavenly gain. The funeral which will be in charge of D.M. Winter will be held from the house at 10:30 Saturday morning, and from the Van Brocklin church at 11"30. Messrs. J.T. Hance, H.C. Best, M.W. Goodsell, D.P. Garnhart, H.O. Van Brocklin and A.B. Roberts will act as pallbearers.
