Mrs. Anna Roetman, age 89, of Orange City passed away Sunday, Dec. 10 at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Orange City.

Anna, who was actually named Antje, was born Jan. 15, 1900 in Holland Township, Sioux County, Iowa, the daughter of Gerrit De Haan and Antje Newendorp De Haan.

On Feb. 10, 1930 she married George Clarence Roetman at Orange City. After living at Worthington, Minn, for a year, they farmed in the Sheldon-Hospers area. Mr. Roetman passed away July 4, 1963 at Sheldon.

Mrs. Roetman then moved to Orange City. In 1986 she became a resident of the Pioneer Memorial Home for a few months. In 1987 she transferred to the Heritage House. She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Orange City and had been involved in the Priscilla-Dorcas Circle.

Survivors include her son Dave and his wife Elaine of Vermillion, S.D.; two daughters, Charlene and her husband Roger Van Ommeren of Waco, Tex., and Judith and her husband Burdell Klaassen of Sheldon; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a brother Christian De Haan of Rock Rapids; and three half-brothers, Gerrit De Haan of Sun City, Calif., Bernard De Haan of Sioux Falls, S.D., and S. John De Haan of Des Moines.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson; a sister, Carrie Vande Brake; and two half-brothers, Henry and Marion De Haan.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 14 at the First Reformed Church of Orange City with the Rev. Steven Vander Molen and the Rev. Gerrit Doctor officiating. Interment followed at the Hospers Cemetery, under the direction of the Van Etten-Oolman-Van Gelder Funeral Home of Orange City.
