Horace Crenshaw Sr (1919-1979) is the son of Harrison Crenshaw and Plummie White. He is the twin brother of Harrison Crenshaw (1919-1998). All three men are buried in this cemetery. The inscriptions on the gravestones of Horace and Harrison list their birth dates at 2 days apart. Presumably, one birth date is in error.
Horace was born May 17, 1919 to Harrison and his first wife, Plummie in Manningham, Butler County, AL.
In the 1920 census, Harrison (25) and Plummie (20) had four children in the household: "Jamie (4)" called Gussie in the 1930 census, Hugh (3), and Harrison and Horace, twin bothers (7 months old). Plummie died in 1924.
By the 1930 census, father Harrison had married Arwillie Adams. The household included Harrison (33), Arwillie, listed as "Willie" ( 22), Gussie (14), Hugh (12), Harrison and Horace, Horace enumerated as "Hoice," Henry (7), and the child of Harrison and Arwillie, Pearl (4). Just by the date of Plummie's death, I presume that Henry was Plummie's son.
By the 1940 census, the only child remaining in Harrison's and Arwillie's home is Pearl (13). Horace had a marriage record recorded in 1939, presumably to Lucille Boggan. I have not found a 1940 census listing for Horace and Lucille or a companion marriage for Lucille. Horace and Lucille had three children born in 1955, 1957, and 1959, according to a communication from one of the children.
