Business Magnate. Mr. Robinson was one of the founders of the Ralston Purina Company. He was also a former manager of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. He got his start in the business world at the age of fourteen when he obtained employment with the Missouri Pacific Railroad. Four years later, he spent his summer working for the Antlers Hotel in Colorado Springs. He then worked for the Clark and Stuyvesant Grocery Company for the next two years. After that, he worked for Meyer's Feed Mill for two years and saw a future in the feed business in 1888 when he became the vice president of the Andrews and Robinson Forage Company. In 1893 he, along with William Danforth, organized the Ralston-Danforth Commission Company, a forerunner of the Ralston Purina Company. When the company was reorganized he became president, but later served as the vice president. He was widely interested in the musical affairs of St. Louis and from 1925 to 1927 served as manager of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. An amateur musician, he was an active director in the Municipal Opera Association.
