Roy William Shoup, 85, a resident of Gooding, passed away at home suddenly Monday morning, January 6, 2014

Roy was born in Bushong, Kansas on January 21, 1928. He moved to Gooding with his family in 1941. He received his education in Gooding.

He proudly served his country in both the Army and the Navy in Japan during WWII and Korea during the Korean War.

He learned the body and fender trade and worked at various body shops until he started his own, Roy's Body Shop in Gooding in 1962 and was there until he retired. He then worked for Nordling's Auto Parts Co.

He was a longtime member of the Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; daughters, Deborah Reedy, Sheila Shoup, and Rhonda Shoup; son, Gary Shoup; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; siblings; infant daughter; and his late wife, Ava.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Friday, January 10, 2014 at Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Gooding Senior Center in Roy's name.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Demaray Funeral Service – Gooding Chapel.
