MRS. SHARBINE DIED IN DALLAS

Mrs. Sophia Sharbine died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. P.C. Johnson, in Dallas at 7 o'clock Wednesday night from an attack of bronchitis, at the ripe age of 83 years. The remains were shipped to McKinney Thursday and taken to the home of her son, J.A. Sharbine, on Short Street. The funeral was conducted from this residence Friday afternoon. Rev. Walter Jennings, pastor of the First Christian Church, conducted the devotional exercises, and all arrangements, under the direction of J.C. Parker of the Massie undertaking establishment.

The deceased was born in Pittsburg, Pa. Later she moved with her parents to Illinois, where she lived for about twenty years. She then came to Texas and settled in McKinney. During the forty years since that time this city has been her home.

She was the mother of ten children, eight of whom survive. They are as follows:

Mrs. M.L. Carter and Mrs. P.C. Johnson of Dallas; J.A. and D.F. Sharbine of McKinney;

Mrs. Liza Hauter, Tower Hill, Ill.; Mrs. Hattie Bronson, Monroe Center, Ill.; Mrs. Kate Haydon [sic], Peoria, Ill.; Mrs. Julia Purcell, Saybrook, Ill.

The deceased was a member of the East McKinney Christian Church, and had lived a consistent Christian life.

Those from Dallas attending the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. P.C. Johnson and John Couge and Miss Grace Couge, children of Mrs. Johnson; and Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Carter and daughter, Miss Ona.

The bereaved relatives have the sincere sympathy of a host of good friends.

Note: although the obit says she "was born in Pittsburg", she was more likely born in Somerset County, 50 miles from Pittsburgh.
