Mr. Gilbert Hensley age 67 of Woolum, KY departed this life on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at his home. He was the husband of Barb Smith Hensley and the son of Gilbert and Fannie Hensley born to them on November 30, 1946 in Bell Co., KY.
Mr. Hensley was a member of the Rock Springs Community Church at Hammons Fork. He loved his church and especially loved playing with his grandchildren. He had been a maintenance worker for College Heights apartments before retiring.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Fannie and a son Rodney Hensley along with three sisters, Lanie Eversole, Janie Elliott and Mary Searcy and two brothers, Bobby Hensley and Larken Hensley.
Left behind to mourn his passing is his wife, Barb Hensley of Woolum, two daughters, Tonya Walker and husband Reggie of Georgia and Robyn Perry and husband Darrell of Girdler, one son Jason Hensley and wife Ruth of Girdler, three sisters, Florie Bays, Altie Allen and Gracy Searcy and one brother Rev. Columbus Hensley, eight grandchildren, Matthew Smith, Bradley Smith, Jordan Walker and Ryan Hensley, Mackenzie Hensley, Katie Walker, Erika Sosinsky and Melanie Smith.
Mr. Hensley also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral services for Mr. Gilbert Hensley will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with Thea Abner officiating. Pallbearers will be, Jeremy Mills, Matthew Abner, Charles Abner, Jessie Smith, Chad Abner and F.C. Smith. Burial will follow in the Calvin Jordan Cemetery at Woolum.
