A casualty of the American Civil War; his parents were Mary Kinkead Holmes and Abraham W. Holmes.


Theodore Frelinghuysen Holmes was born in Pennsylvania in 1845. He died 28 Jul 1862 from Phthisis Pulmonalis (tuberculosis of the lungs) contracted during his service in the American Civil War as a Infantry Private in Company G, Regt. 76 of the Pennsylvania Volunteers. He became ill at Hilton Head, South Carolina. His father Abraham W. Holmes, 1st Lieutenant in the same company, resigned his post and returned home to Blairsville, PA, where his son died.
