Born in Schulenburg, October 15, 1925, to Joe C. and Magdalena Brossmann, Frances attended St. Rose Catholic School and in 1942 graduated from Schulenburg High School.
Upon graduation, Frances moved to Houston where the luck of a Paul Jones dance whistle, would turn into a loving marriage that would be celebrated for over 62 1/2 years to Carl Wendler. They were united in marriage, June 23, 1946.
Frances devoted her life to her family. The accomplishments of her two daughters and four grandchildren brought her such joy. In addition to being a homemaker, she was the financial planner and advisor of Wendler Enterprises.
She immersed herself in community service while living in Brenham, Bryan and Schulenburg. Frances was instrumental in organizing the Brenham Young Homemakers Association and served as advisor to the Junior American Legion Auxiliary Post 48 in Brenham. She was president of both the American Legion Auxiliary Bryan Post 159 and Schulenburg Post 143. For over 40 years, Frances could be seen at the post office on the first Saturday of November selling poppies to support the military veterans. Throughout Carl's vocational agriculture teaching career, Frances endlessly assisted with FFA activities including the compilation of the local chapter scrapbook which received state-wide recognition numerous times.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings. She is survived by her husband, Carl Wendler; daughters, Carol Skelton and husband, Jackie of La Grange, Texas and Cheryl Schulman and husband, Craig of College Station, Texas; four grandchildren, Jessica Skelton of Amarillo, Texas, Jarrett Skelton of La Grange, Texas, Joshua Schulman and Regan Schulman of College Station, Texas; sister, Rosalee Gaskamp of Hallettsville, Texas; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Betty Brossmann of Bryan, Texas, Florence Brossman of San Antonio, Texas, Oscar Barta of Hallettsville, Texas, and Bill Schaffer of Houston, Texas; mourn her passing in addition, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Schulenburg Public Library, St. Rose Catholic School Library in Schulenburg, the American Legion Auxiliary Veterans Benefit Fund or charity of your choice.
