During a flight from McChord Air Field in
Washington to Kingman, Arizona, the bomber
experienced structural failures due to severe
icing conditions, and crashed near McClellan
Field in Sacramento before it could make an
emergency landing.

All thirteen Army personnel aboard perished.

Killed aboard were:

2nd Lt. Charles W Williams (co-pilot)
