On October 10, 1947 as Alston Law Brown, he married Jean Jorgensen at the American Consulate Building in Yokohama, Japan.
They were the parents of four children.
He died while participating in a practice air defense mission at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. An engine failure of his F-104 interceptor was the cause of the accident. He was the winner of the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, the Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart. He and his wife, Jean, were the parents of four children.
