Mrs. Margaret Reckhow Dies At Rockford
Mrs. Margaret Miller Reckhow, widow of Williston Reckhow and mother of Louis M. Reckhow, died last Saturday morning in Rockford, following a stroke of paralysis.
She was born 83 years ago last Oct. 4, in Ryegate, Vermont, but had spent practically her entire life in Illinois.
When a young girl her parents moved to Rockton, where she grew to womanhood and was married to Williston Reckhow. After their marriage the couple went to live in a farm in Shirland township, which was her home until her husband's death in 1890. She moved to Rockford the following year and had lived there since.
Mrs. Reckhow is survived by three children: Louis M. Reckhow of Rockford, William Reckhow, Oak Park, and Mrs. Mary Zahm, who lived with her mother. She also leaves two brothers and three sisters. They are: E.G. Miller, Boscobel, Wis., Roger Miller, Kansas; Mrs. Brittan Jewett, Harrison; Mrs. J.W. Robinson, Beloit, and Mrs. Mary Lloyd, Roscoe. She also leaves four grandchildren, one of whom is Williston Reckhow, deputy revenue collector, and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon. Interment was made in Shirland cemetery.
