BISHOP M. AWALT

Bishop Marvin Awalt, 79, of 2012 Old Orchard, former state manager of the Curtis Publishing Co. in Arkansas, died here Tuesday.

A native of Arkansas, and a long-time Dallas resident, Awalt retired in 1967.

He was superintendent of American National Insurance Co. in Oklahoma in 1925. A member of Stevens Park Methodist Church, Awalt was a member of a Sunday school class there.

Awalt attended Austin College in Sherman and Southwestern University in Georgetown, and was a member of the Oak Cliff Masonic Lodge.

Survivors: his wife; a son of Longview; a daughter of Dallas; sister of Brewster, Washington; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Stevens Park Methodist Church. Burial will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park.
