EUGENE KENT PASSES AWAY AT VETS'HOSPITAL


KILMICHAEL, Miss., April 15. - Eugene L. Kent, who was reared in Montgomery County, died at the Veteran's Hospital, Memphis, Tenn., on last Friday. April 10th at 2:00 P. M.. following an operation for appendicitis. Gene Kent, as he was familiarly known here in his boyhood and young manhood, has many friends over the county who will be, grieved to learn of his demise.


Eugene entered the United States Navy and served for four years, seeing service on most of the high seas of the world. When his country entered the World War, he joined the United States Army, and served for two years in the Engineering Corps. Since the close of the great conflict he has made his home at Hughes, Ark.


He leaves a wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Orr Kent, and three children. Sidney, Thomas and Gordon an aged mother, Mrs. Smith D. Kent, of Kilmichael; one brother, James S. Kent, of Green wood; and five sisters, Mrs. M. F. Wilson, of Winona; Mrs. A. C. Johnson, Sr., of Doddsville: Mrs. W. A. Spivey and Mrs. L. A. Wingate of Kilmichael, and Mrs. J. H. Rose, of Helena, Ark.


Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon from the funeral home of J. T. Hinton and Son. The Rev. Johnson, pastor of the family, officiating, after which interment was made at Memphis Memorial Cemetery. Those attending the funeral from Kilmichael were: B. S. Kent, Miss Corinne Kent, E. Lee Kent, and Mrs. L. A. Wingate and Geo. H. Floyd.
