THOMASVILLE--Mrs. Muriel Jacqueline Everhart Hilliard, 37, wife of Rev. Raymus F. Hilliard died in Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem yesterday. She was born in Thomasville, October 5, 1922, a daughter of William Heitman and Mamie Shuler Everhart and was a graduate of Fair Grove High School. She was reared in Emanuel Evangelical and Reformed Church and since her marriage to Rev. Hillard, she had transferred her church membership to a church that he was serving. She received her B.S. degree in Home Economics and Science from Appalachian State Teachers College and a vocational certificate from Woman's College of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She taught school at Hasty and Fair Grove in Davidson County and Seagrove in Randolph County. She taught also at Manchester High School, Carroll County, Maryland and at the Poolesville High Scool in Montgomery County, Maryland. She had served as Dietician at City Memorial Hospital in Thomasville. Mrs. Hilliard was a member of Pine Grove Methodist, Rt. 2, Winston-Salem and a member of the Friendship Class of the Church School.

On April 28, 1959, she became a Life Member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Methodist Church by the Snow Hill Methodist Church, Candler, while her husband was pastor of that church. She has been an active minister's wife, serving with her husband the following appointments in the Methodist Church; South Randolph Charge, Asheboro; Poolsville, Maryland; The Edneyville Church, Edneyville; The Candler Charge, Candler; and the Pine Grove Charge, Winston-Salem. When her husband was a student at Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, D.C., she served as the first president of the Student Faculty Wives Guild. She was a member of the Woman's Circle, #66, of the Woodmen of the World, Hendersonville, and a member of the Edneyville Grange, Edneyville.

On August 8, 1947, she was married to Rev. Hilliard who survives with two daughters, Carroll Dean and Susan Etta Hilliard, both of the home; two sons, Carroll Dean and Raymus Frankie Hilliard, Jr., both of the home; her mother, Mrs. William H. Everhart of Rt.2, Thomasville; five sisters, Mrs. L.W. Alexander of Rt. 2, Thomasville, Mrs. Lonnie Harmon of High Point, Mrs. Sidney Smith and Mrs. Robert Smith, both of Rt. 9, Winston-Salem and Mrs. Clayton Steel of Silver Springs, Maryland; four brothers, Paul Everhart and C.L. Everhart, both of Rt.2, Thomasville, Harold Everhart of Thomasville and Delbert Everhart of Rt.1, Jamestown; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral will be conducted from Emanuel Evangelical and Reformed Church tomorrow at 2 p.m. Officiating will be the pastor, Rev. J.Wayne Fouts, Dr. Lee F. Tuttle, superintendent of the Winston-Salem district, and Rev. Robert G. Tuttle, superintendent of the Asheville district of the Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the family plot in Holly Hills Cemetery.
