Shelford L. Cutlip, 75, of Route 5, Lexington, died Thursday, August 28, 1997, in Stonewall Jackson Hospital, Lexington. Mr. Cutlip was born on December 18, 1921, in Diana, Webster County, W.Va., and was a son of Stella Fisher Cutlip of Buchanan, W.Va., and the late Noah E. Cutlip. He was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church, Rockbridge Baths, where he served as a Deacon for many years, a member of Brownsburg Ruritan Club, was a leader of the Boy Scouts in Logan, W.Va., and was a distinguished World War II veteran, being awarded the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Island Creek Coal Company in Logan, W.Va.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 1997, from the Harrison Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. David Dickerson officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens, Lexington. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
