He graduated Yale College in 1814 and involved himself with several business interests. The bulk of his life was passed in his native city. He was president of the Norwich Savings Society at the time of his death.

He spent his entire life in Norwich, engaged in business. At the time of his death he was a vice-president and director of the Norwich Savings Society.
