The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Saturday, December 7, 2013, at Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2019 S. Friendfield Road, Scranton, SC. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, December 8, 2013, at Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church. Burial, directed by Carolina Funeral Home, will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Timmons was born July 28, 1935, in Florence County, a daughter of the late Lurie Alexander, Sr. and Bertie Flowers Alexander. She was a former employee of Wentworth Manufacturing Company of Lake City and later Avon-Dale Manufacturing Company of Olanta. Mrs. Timmons was a life-long member of Friendfield Pentecostal Holiness Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher and Secretary of the Sunday School Department. She loved working in her garden and her flowerbeds and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved her.
Surviving besides her husband of 63 years, Jimmie S. Timmons of the home; are four daughters, Dianne T. (Rev. Wayne) Windham of Hartsville, Katherine T. (Rob) Grossman of Littleton, CO, Elaine T. (Tommy) Miles of Florence and Barbara Teal of Scranton; special niece and nephew, Brenda & Pete Lewis of Scranton; 7 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and seven siblings, Mary Lee Plass of Florence, Charles Alexander of Pamplico, Rev. Johnny Alexander of Lake View, Rev. Nelson Alexander of Florence, Dixie Schaner of Effingham, Linda Poston of Johnsonville and Lurie Alexander, Jr. of Myrtle Beach. Mrs. Timmons was preceded in death by five siblings, Jamie Alexander, Joyce Ard, Rev. Mack Alexander, Josephine Alexander and Baby Alexander.
