Reggie married Ila Mae "Jackie" Wallace in 1944 and settled in N.E. Portland where they became the proud parents of Billy Jack, Reginald Derrough Brady III, and Deborah Ellen Brady.
Reg attended Washington High School in Portland where he excelled at sports, especially in track. In 1933 he was the state prep Track Team Captain of the Washington Colonials and champion sprinter who set the 100 yard dash record at :10 seconds flat. He was a member of the winning half-mile relay team and set the all time record in the 220 yard dash at :21.8 seconds which he held for 29 years until the record was tied in 1962. He continued earning track sprinting awards at the University of Oregon in 1935 thru 1936 where he was Captain of the 'Duckling' track squad.
After enlisting in the US Army in 1942, Reg was commissioned 2LT from the Tank Destroyer Officers' Candidate School at Camp Hood, Texas. He then proudly served in the European Theater during WWII as a
Captain of the 602nd Tank Destroyer Battalion.
Reg was employed by Thomas W. Allen Company in Portland but in his retirement years finally fulfilled his dream of owning his own business, relocating his family to Tigard, Oregon where for 22 years he owned and operated Reg Brady's Nursery.
