OBITUARY
WILLIAM CHARLES ("CHUCK") SUTLIVE, JR.
1953 – 2012

Funeral services for William Charles ("Chuck") Sutlive, Jr., 59, of El Paso, Texas, were held Sunday, September 16, 2012, at Peaceful Garden Funeral Home Chapel in Pecos, Texas. Mr. Sutlive passed away Friday, September 13, 2012 at Kindred Hospital in El Paso. Burial was in the Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Pecos.
Chuck was born Thursday, March 5, 1953 at Kahn Memorial Hospital in Marshall, Harrison County, Texas at 1:45 a.m. He was the first born child of William Charles Sutlive, Sr. and Robbie Jewel Fort Sutlive.
He was preceded in death by his father who died May 20, 1986 in Panola County, Texas, and by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour at the age of eight and joined the Shady Grove Baptist Church near DeBerry. He later joined the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Marshall. Chuck had a deep, abiding, Christian faith and entrusted his life entirely to God's will. He accepted his diabetic illness as being according to what God had in store for his life and dealt with the many serious complications the best he possibly could.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, horseback riding and photography. He was an avid gun enthusiast and was very knowledgeable about almost any type of firearms. Other people also interested in firearms often contacted him for answers about particular makes and models of guns. He also enjoyed all types of history and held his family heritage in high regard
Mr. Sutlive began school in the Carthage, TX school system and graduated from Karnack High School in Karnack, TX with the class of 1972. He graduated from Panola College in Carthage and attended Stephen F. Austin University for 2-1/2 semesters before joining the staff of the Polk County Enterprise newspaper in Livingston, Texas as Sports Editor. He worked for several newspapers in Texas and Louisiana, including – but not limited to – Carthage, Marshall, Katy, Marlin, Atlanta, Pecos, Plano, Dallas, Tx; Vivian and Oil City, LA. Chuck was exceptionally talented with expressing himself in writing and was often described as "…having a way with words…" He was previously employed with the Pecos Police Department and the Reeves County Sheriff's Office. At the time of his death, he was retired from the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service in El Paso.
Survivors include his wife, the former Maby Hortencia DeLaGarza; one son, William Charles Sutlive, III; one daughter, Briana Yvette McRoy and husband, Casey; grandchildren, Alana McRoy and Casey McRoy, Jr., all of El Paso; his mother, Mrs. Robbie Jewel Fort Sutlive and brother, Jerry Glynn Sutlive, both of DeBerry and brother, Gary Lynn Sutlive and wife, Dawn, of Henderson, Texas; one niece, Mrs. Cary Sutlive Peterson and husband, Jalon, of Nacogdoches and one nephew, Derek Heath Sutlive, of Henderson. He is also survived by several cousins and a host of friends who will miss his presence and mourn his death.
Pallbearers for Mr. Sutlive's funeral service were: Gary Sutlive, Jerry Sutlive, William Charles Sutlive, III, Edel DeLaGarza, Manuel DeLaGarza, and Casey McRoy, Sr. Heath Sutlive served as Alternate.
