Charles O. "Jack" Wilson, 58 of West Plains, has been in veterans hospitals for the last 27 months. He died yesterday afternoon in the VA Hospital in Poplar Bluff. Death was attributed to arthritis and complications. Mr. Wilson was born Dec. 13, 1893 in Howell County and lived in the Blue Mound community all his life, until 1945 when he moved to West Plains.
He was a member of the Church of God.
He served 13 months overseas with the 89th Division during World War I. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was married June 10, 1923 to Bessie Pence, also of Blue Mound. She survives.
He was a farmer until his health failed.
Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. C.A. Chesnut of West Plains, Mo.; and seven bothers and sisters, Roy Chesnut; Mrs. Wayne Spears; Mrs. C.C. Newman; and W.E. Wilson, all of West Plains; Mrs. Stella Coursey of Avoca, Ind.; Mrs. Lillian Foster of Fontana, Calif.; Oscar Wilson of Everett, WA. All the sisters and brothers are to be here for the funeral, except Oscar Wilson.
The body was returned by Robertson Funeral Home. Services are to be at the Church of God Friday. Burial is to be in Blue Mound Cemetery, west of West Plains.
